What we do

  • Business tax returns. Partnership, S-corporation and C-corporation returns, prepared alongside your year-end books.
  • Year-round tax planning. Projections in the fall, so decisions about equipment, bonuses, retirement contributions and estimated payments are made while they still count.
  • Entity structure. Whether an LLC, S-corp election or another structure fits your profit and your plans.
  • Multi-state situations. Help for businesses that operate, sell or own property in more than one state, including Utah and California.
  • Personal tax returns. Individual and family returns, including rental property, investment income, self-employment and multi-state income.
  • Owner returns. Coordinating the business return with the owners’ personal returns so nothing falls through the cracks.

Why books and taxes belong together

When bookkeeping and taxes live with two different firms, year-end turns into a document chase, and planning opportunities usually get spotted after the year has closed. Because Aconter keeps your books current all year, Aconter Tax starts every conversation with real numbers instead of estimates.

Common questions

Do I need to be an Aconter bookkeeping client to work with Aconter Tax?

No, though clients who use both get the most out of planning because the numbers are always current.

Do you prepare personal tax returns?

Yes. We prepare individual and family returns, whether or not you own a business, and we coordinate them with any business returns we file for you.

When should we start year-end planning?

September through November is ideal. That leaves time to act on what the projection shows before December 31.

Should my LLC elect to be taxed as an S-corporation?

It depends on your profit, how you pay yourself and your plans for the business. It can reduce self-employment tax, but it adds payroll and compliance costs. We run the numbers with you before recommending it.

Can you help if my business has activity in more than one state?

Yes. Multi-state filing is a common source of missed obligations and overpayments, and it is an area of particular experience for our team.
